Dairy, Agribusiness Consultant

Nicola has been working as a dairy farm consultant for AgFirst Waikato since early 2008. She has completed a Bachelor of Applied Science with Honours (majoring in Agriculture and Agribusiness). Since working with AgFirst Waikato Nicola has been involved in both one-on-one consultancy and various industry projects.

In 2010 Nicola was awarded a Nuffield Scholarship completing her travels throughout 2011.  Her travels took her through various parts of Europe, the USA, South East Asia and the Middle East learning about a range of farming enterprises.  She completed a personal sutdy looking at how to help farmers to adapt to future environmental regulations and how the industry can influence these – the carrot or the stick approach.

Outside of her role as a farm consultant she is also involved in NZ Young Farmers at a club, district and regional level.  Addititoally she holds a role of an independent board member of NZ Institute of Primary Industry Management (an Industry body for rural professionals).

Nicola is also involved in a 50/50 Sharemilking business milking 500 cows with her husband Harvey Kloeten in the North King Country.

  • Completed DairyNZ body condition scoring assessment
  • NZ Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Accounting, Mitigation and Emissions Trading course at Massey university.
