The Future Farm Systems Research Programme: The Path to 2050 white paper provides an evidence-based overview of how farming systems in Aotearoa New Zealand may need to evolve over coming decades to remain productive, sustainable and resilient. Drawing on research, industry insight and practical experience, the paper explores future challenges and opportunities for the primary sector, including environmental performance, system efficiency, resilience to climate and market pressures, and long-term viability.

Co-authored by Erica van Reenen, the white paper is intended to support informed discussion, strategic planning and decision-making across the sector as it works toward a sustainable future for New Zealand farming.
