Peter has worked as an agricultural consultant in the Central North Island since the mid 1980s based initially in Te Kuiti and since 1989 in Rotorua.
As a founding member of AgFirst and through involvement with a family farming company, Peter has hands on business experience which gives him a better understanding of the issues facing AgFirst farmer clients and the wider agricultural industry.
Peter works in both the dairy and drystock sectors, and with individual farmers as well as a number of Maori Trusts and Incorporations in a supervisory and / or consultancy role. This wide range of skills is viewed as advantageous whether it is in supporting a large sheep and beef unit to grow, or working at the leading edge of technology with an intensive dairy unit.
As well as working one-on-one with clients Peter has had a heavy involvement in Dairy Conversion Projects since the late 1980s through New Zealand. He has a close association with the banks and other key industry support and technical personnel.
Helping farmers identify their goals, setting the business plan and monitoring its progress is viewed a strong part of the consultancy support service. An involvement with the Beef+Lamb Monitor Farm Programme as Facilitator for four projects since 1993 has also been a feature of his work.
