Horticulture, Horticultural Consultant

AgFirst Horticultural Consultant, Nic Finger, brings extensive experience to the team. He specialises in both the research and development field and day-to-day orcharding operations.

Hailing from Australia, where he grew up on his family’s apple orchard and having previously worked in a project and trial management role for Australia’s government research body (CSIRO), Nic’s data analysis and manipulation skills are highly-developed. Nic is experienced in basic summary statistics (comparative analysis) through to statistical model development and evaluation. Despite the complexity of some aspects of his data analysis, Nic can effectively communicate results to a wide range of audiences ensuring that scientifically sound, yet understandable, conclusions and recommendations are reached.

Nic’s technical consultancy is predominantly based ‘on the numbers’ reflecting his studies and data-driven approach to most tasks. Living away from the family orchard, Nic has also developed his remote consultancy services (via phone, email and video for both crop planning and husbandry). Nic has a passion for visiting different growing regions throughout the world and discovering useful emerging technology and innovative approaches to fruit production.
