Lachlan Paine is originally from Tauranga, and has been working in Agricultural fields since graduating from Massey University in early 2014 with a BAgSci. He worked with Ravensdown as an Agri Manager in the Central North Island from January 2014 to June 2018.
From mid-2018 to mid-2019 Lachlan pursued his practical interests, traveling and working on drystock farms through England and Scotland before returning to New Zealand. Upon return he worked on a range of properties including lambing on a sheep milking property, casual fencing and as a farm hand. While doing this he created a business providing casual labour, shearing, fencing, and shepherding to farmers in the Central Plateau with 3 others. This small business has since expanded to become a team of 6 and continues to grow.
Lachlan’s passion for farm systems; balancing environmental, production and financial feasibility in agriculture, improving efficiency and helping farmers adapt to legislative challenges drove him to pursue a full time career with AgFirst beginning in mid-2020 to continue to develop new skills and assist farmers in the Central North island dealing with environmental and farm-system based challenges.
Lachlan has worked on dairy, drystock and horticultural farms as well as advising on nutrient management on dairy, drystock and cropping operations since 2014. Lachlan has been a Certified Nutrient Management Advisor since 2016. His practical and technical knowledge of farms assists his work, decision making and advice.
