James Allen

James Allen, in conjunction with John Hall, runs AgFirst Waikato, an agricultural consultancy business which covers all areas of pastoral agribusiness. A key focus of their consultancy work is business planning, farm supervision and agribusiness project work.

James is the immediate past president of the New Zealand Institute of Primary Industry Management, and a previous chairman of New Zealand Young Farmers. He was a grand finalist in the Young Farmer of the Year Contest in 1999 and again in 2002.





His work includes:

• One-to-one on-farm management consultancy. Providing technical, financial and labour management advice, with a strong focus on business planning and strategic management. The focus is on large scale farming operations.
• Farmer training – tutor of Lincoln University Diploma of Farm Management, AgITO tutor, Farmsafe tutor
• Agribusiness consultancy, eg model writer for the MAF Deer Farm Monitoring Report (North region, 1996-2003), Waikato Dairy 2004
