Project Brief

To provide an accurate estimate of the national export pipfruit crop each season.

Description of Project

The crop estimate is compiled using data collected nationwide from growers and industry in conjunction with undertaking counts and measurements on a range of orchards, and using our consultants’ knowledge and experience to accurately estimate the export volume of pipfruit produced at the end of the season by variety and region.

Progress of Project so Far

To date the crop estimate has been very accurate - within 5% of the actual crop since the first crop estimate was done in 2004.

Outcomes from Project

The annual crop estimate is presented to the industry by Ross Wilson and published by Pipfruit NZ Inc for industry members on their website.
