Rod joined the Hastings AgFirst team in June 2009 after 10 years in Sales Management roles in the fertiliser industry. Since shifting to Hawkes Bay nearly 15 years ago he has also spent 5 years working as Operations Manager for Carter Holt Harvey Forests as their East Coast Operations Manager.

Rod is a Lincoln graduate and has been involved in the primary sector for the majority of his career together with owning a successful Recruitment business. He has recently completed post grad papers in Advanced Nutrient Management at Massey University, believing that the efficient use and recovery of nutrient in agriculture will be a key to our sustainability and marketability in the future.

Rod’s focus centres on a Whole Farm Approach dealing with individuals and businesses who have a passion to progress, are prepared to change and want to “get it right”.

Special areas of interest include

  • Nutrient Management Plans
  • Nutrient Budgeting
  • Supervising and facilitating value recovery for forest and woodlot owners
  • Recruitment of Farm Management Staff
Rod, when not working with his farmer clients, will be found in the hills with a rifle on his shoulder or involved with the Te Mata Peak Board where he sits as a Trustee.
