Bruce McCorkindale is an experienced Sheep and Beef consultant based in
South Otago.
Still actively farming in his own right on a family property, Bruce employs labour to allow him to take on off farm consultancy work.
Bruce is recognized as an innovator and ideas person who can look outside traditional thinking when needed, and new ideas are often put to the test on his property. He is also experienced in computer modeling of farm systems as part of exploring opportunities.
Adding in a holistic approach which includes personal and family requirements as well as farm productivity, Bruce's farmer clients get the advantage of working with a consultant who has a hands-on understanding of the issues they face, as well as the ability and resources to search out the best solutions for their needs.
A few features of Bruce's agricultural consultancy experience:
- Involved in developing and demonstrating high performance bull beef
farming systems suited to the summer moist areas of Otago and southland.
- Has facilitated 3 Meat and Wool NZ monitor farm programmes, 2 of these
in South Otago and one in North/East Otago.
- Many years experience working with farm discussion groups. Currently
facilitator for the Kuriwao DG comprising a group of larger South Otago
hill properties.
- Has been involved in many projects over the years in both leadership
and team member roles including; FITT, Sustainable Farming Fund (SFF), Otago Forward.
- Some horticultural experience in developing commercial nut orchards.
