Alan has set up and successfully managed Agfirst Environmental since 1995. Given most small business fail in the first 3 years, this is a notable achievement.

As a SME manager Alan has to deal with all the issues of running a business, eg taxation, wages, marketing, overheads as well as running the projects that make Agfirst Environmental, what it is today; a successful consultancy business specialising in traffic monitoring.

Project management

Alan has successfully managed a range of projects throughout New Zealand. He recruits, trains, and supervises up to eight personnel for each project. Alan is responsible for the financial management of all projects and consistently keeps tight budgetary control.

Alan successfully chaired the Agfirst NZ group, during its developing years.

Agfirst is the first traffic counting contractor to successfully bid in four Transit regions.

Alan will:

• manage the project and supervise office personnel
• liaise with Transit.
• keep the project to programme and budget
• prepare and audit TMPs
• prepare and audit programme
• provide backup and support to all personnel employed on the contract.

Training

Alan has completed a range of management training courses in time management, communication skills, business, and sales and marketing.

Traffic monitoring

Services include 7 day vehicle counts, vehicle type by 13 classes, vehicle speeds.

Surveys available of pedestrian and cycles, parking, travel times and bus lanes.
